In line with the European Declaration on Mental Health, the CologneBonn Mental Health Week is an initiative to raise awareness of the importance of mental well-being.

The aim of the week is to draw the public’s attention to the topic of mental health and to enter into an open dialogue with them. The active provision of information and education is intended to help destigmatise mental illness and those affected by it. The initiative strives to provide comprehensive information on the development, significance, prevention and treatment of mental illnesses.

The week will feature many different events. Clinics and therapy centres, providers of psychosocial support, outpatient and inpatient services, foundations, educational centres and health insurance companies are invited to offer their own events under the umbrella of the CologneBonn Mental Health Week. These include open days, lectures, plays, films, readings and exhibitions. Within the framework of their formats, the organisers provide information regarding available support services, offer access to specialist information and facilitate the exchange of experiences, so that together a varied programme on the topic of “Mental Health” is created in the greater CologneBonn area. The programme is open to the public.

The CologneBonn Mental Health Week has taken place every two years since 2017, alternating with the Cologne Dementia Weeks.

The CologneBonn Mental Health Week is a charitable and social project supported by the Kämpgen Foundation . The main organiser since 2017 has been the  Cologne Community Psychiatry Campaign Foundation. Other organisers include Gesundheitsregion KölnBonn e.V., the Eckhard Busch Foundation and Klinik Alteburger Straße gGmbH. The list of other initiators and supporters can be found here.

The next CologneBonn Mental Health Week will take place from 7 to 17 October 2025. Further information can be found here.
