An interactive platform for informal caregivers
The project TeReS – Technology-supported Regional Care Community – aims to address the challenges of informal caregivers by creating an interactive app/web platform.
The project TeReS addresses the existing obstacles and needs of informal carers as well as the current challenges of demographic change in our society. By 2035, the number of people in need of care in Germany will rise to 5.6 million; in North Rhine-Westphalia, 1.19 million people were already in need of care in 2021. Around 86% of people in need of care are looked after by relatives, who are often under a great deal of emotional and physical strain and frequently suffer from a lack of information.
Together with its consortium partners, Gesundheitsregion KölnBonn e.V., NursIT Institute GmbH and the Institute of Nursing Science – University of Cologne; Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital of Cologne, the gewi Institute for Healthcare Management would therefore like to create a digitally supported cross-sector care community in the form of an app. The aim is to use artificial intelligence to provide personalised care information, psychosocial support services and suitable service providers based on individual care needs. The project aims to solve the problem of a lack of information about care insurance benefits as well as local offers and services, the frequent overburdening of informal carers and the need for local exchange.
The project is funded by grants from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from the ERDF/JTF programme NRW and has a timeframe from 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2027.
